Description: The Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) is seeking a proficient and dedicated individual to fill the role of Safety Oversight Officer in Seattle, Wash.

Duties and Responsibilities: WSDOT is designated as the Federal Transit Administration (FTA) State Safety Oversight (SSO) agency and is charged with developing program standards, procedures, and technical direction to each rail transit agency that includes Sound Transit, the Seattle Streetcar, and the Seattle Monorail. This position is a certified public transportation safety expert that develops and ensures compliance with safety guidelines, goals, objectives, standards, procedures, and measures. At least once every three years, the position leads a safety audit of each rail transit agency’s compliance with its safety plan requirements.
