Transit Operations Manager

Description: RMTD is seeking an experienced Transit Operations Manager to oversee the planning, coordination, administration, supervision, training and resource utilization functions of the Transit Operations Department, ensuring that the public transportation system, which provides fixed route bus transit service, paratransit service and contracted services meets the mobility needs of the service area.

Duties and Responsibilities: The position is also responsible for the supervision of approximately 100 Fixed Route and Paratransit Operations employees, including supervisors and unionized operators. This position reports directly to the Director of Operations and is under the general oversight of the Executive Director and the RMTD Board of Trustees.

Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in planning, business administration, public administration or related field or equivalent experience with five or more years of progressive transportation experience in a managerial or supervisory capacity. Knowledge of the principles and practices of a multi-service public transportation system. Possess or have the ability to possess within 12 months of hire an Illinois Class B Commercial Driver’s License with Passenger Endorsement and successful completion of a DOT physical.
